Serve with crackers, preferably a very
crispy type such as Triscuits.
Makes about 1 cup
There's an unusual tradition in middle America of
appetizers made from a block of cream cheese, covered with sauce, and
served with crackers.
The above pepper jelly version was our first
encounter with this high-fat little snack, we've since seen blocks of
cream cheese covered with Pickapeppa sauce, with a sundried tomato
spread from a jar, and with a commercially prepared tapenade, the black
olive spread from France. Jalapeno jelly comes in red and green
versions, and can be found in most supermarkets.
