Buttermilk Drop Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients :

Makes 10-12 biscuits

2 cups

2 teaspoons

1/2 teaspoon

1/4 teaspoon

6 tablespoons

1 cup

all-purpose flour

baking powder

baking soda

salt

butter, shortening, or margarine

butttermilk

Method :
  1. Heat the oven to 425o.

  2. In the work bowl of a food processor, place the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and stir.
  3. Pulse once to combine.
  4. Add the butter or shortening in pieces, not in one big lump.
  5. Pulse on and off for a few seconds until the mixture makes coarse crumbs.
  6. Pour in the buttermilk all at once and pulse just enough to moisten.
  7. Do not over mix.
  8. The dough should be soft, lumpy, and wet-looking.
  9. Drop big spoonfuls of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 10-15 minutes, until raised and golden brown.
  11. Serve immediately.
