Digestive Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients :

whole meal flour

medium oatmeal

brown sugar

margarine

golden syrup

a little milk

Method :
  1. Heat the oven to 180oC (350oF), Gas 4.

  2. Grease a baking tray.
  3. Mix together the flour, oatmeal and sugar and rub in the margarine.
  4. Melt the syrup in a small pan, cool slightly and pour on to the dry ingredients.
  5. Mix with just enough milk to give a firm dough.
  6. Turn on to a lightly floured surface and knead lightly until smooth.
  7. Roll out to 6 mm thickness and cut into rounds with a 6 cm biscuit cutter.
  8. Transfer to the baking tray and prick all over with a fork.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes.
  10. Allow to cool slightly, then transfer to a wire rack.
  11. When cold, store in an airtight tin.

Makes about 16 biscuits
