Grandfathers Gingernuts Recipe

Ingredients :

1/4 cup

2 cups

butter

golden syrup

plain flour

ground ginger

bicarbonate of soda

sugar

egg

Method :
  1. Preheat oven to 180C and grease oven trays.
  2. In a small pan, stir together butter and golden syrup until melted.
  3. Sift together flour, ginger and soda in a mixing bowl.
  4. Stir in sugar, add syrup mixture and egg.
  5. Beat with a wooden spoon until combined.
  6. Roll dough into small balls.
  7. Arrange on prepared trays, flatten slightly with the base of a glass covered with plastic wrap.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until firm and golden.
  9. Cool slightly on tray.
  10. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
