Method :
- Preheat oven to 180C and grease oven
trays.
- In a pan, heat together treacle and
butter, stirring until butter melts.
- Cool to temperature, stir in egg.
- Sift together flour, sugar, soda and
spices.
- Stir into treacle mixture, mixing
well.
- Cover and chill several hours or
overnight.
- Shape dough by hand into 25mm balls.
- Arrange on prepared trays and bake for
12-14 minutes until firm.
- Cool on tray, roll biscuits in icing
sugar to coat just before serving.
- Store in an airtight container.

These biscuits store well in an airtight container
for up to one week.
