Apple Topped Gingerbread Recipe

Ingredients :

1/2 cup soft butter

2/3 cup sugar

2 eggs

1/4 cup molasses

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1 tsp soda

1/2 tsp salt

1 tsp ginger

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp allspice

1 cup milk

hot applesauce

Method :

Heat oven to 350F (175C). Grease a 9 x 9 x 2-inch (23 x 23 x 5cm) square pan. Cream butter. Add sugar and beat together until fluffy. Add eggs and beat again until well-blended and fluffy. Beat in molasses. Sift flour, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon and allspice together. Add to first mixture alternately with milk, mixing to blend after each addition. Pour into prepared pan and bake 35 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly in the center. Serve warm cut in large pieces. Soon hot applesauce over each serving.
