Method :
- Cover the lentils with cold water
and bring to the boil.
- Cover and simmer for about 40
minutes until tender.
- Drain well and put into a bowl.
- Chop the onion finely and cook in
the butter until soft and golden.
- Add the onion to the lentils with
the cheese, breadcrumbs, beaten egg, cream, ketchup and parsley.
- Season to taste with nutmeg, salt
and pepper.
- Grease a 675 g loaf tin and put in
the lentil mixture.
- Bake at 180C (350F), gas 4 for 45
minutes.
- Leave in the tin for 5 minutes,
and turn on to a warm serving dish.
Note :
A tasty loaf which is nicest served hot
with tomato or mushroom sauce and a salad or vegetables.
