Cheesy Rye Scones Recipes

Ingredients :

1 cup rye meal flour

1 cup self raising flour

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

cayenne pepper

60g cheese, grated

1 cup top milk

Method :
  1. Sieve the flours with baking powder and salt and add cayenne.
  2. Any bran remaining in the sifter should be tipped in as well.
  3. Cut in cheese and mix to a soft dough with the milk.
  4. Turn on to a floured board, pat into shape about 2 cm thick and cut into scone shapes.
  5. Place on a cold floured baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes at high heat reducing for the last 5 minutes of cooking.

Oven - 450F for 10 minutes reducing to 400F

Serves 4 - 6
