Pear Tea Bread Recipes

Ingredients :

milk

clear honey

egg

whole wheat self raising flour

margarine

light Muscovado sugar

dried pears, finely chopped

grated lemon rind

chopped walnuts

salt

Method :
  1. Warm the milk with the honey.

  2. Cool and beat in the egg.

  3. Rub the flour, salt and fat to make crumbs.

  4. Stir in the sugar, pears, lemon rind and walnuts.

  5. Beat the egg mixture into the dry ingredients and pour the batter into a greased 1 lb (450 g) loaf tin.

  6. Leave to stand for 15 minutes.

  7. Bake in the oven at 350oF (180oC), Gas 4 for 50 minutes.

  8. Serve warm or cold.

Makes one 1 lb (450 g) loaf

Note : Cottage cheese sieved and beaten with a little honey makes a delicious spread.
