Wheat Germ Bread Recipe

Ingredients :

wheat germ

cracked wheat

brown sugar

wheat meal self raising flour

whole meal flour

baking powder

bicarbonate of soda

salt

Method :
  1. Heat the oven to 180oC (350oF), Gas 4.

  2. Line a 900 g loaf tin with greased foil.
  3. Gently melt the margarine in the milk.
  4. Remove from the heat and beat in the egg, wheat germ, cracked wheat and sugar.
  5. Leave to cool.
  6. Sift together the flours, baking powder, soda and salt and add any bran remaining in the sieve.
  7. Make a well in the center and stir in the milk mixture.
  8. Turn into the tin and level the top, sprinkle with a little whole meal flour and bake for 45-50 minutes.

Serving Suggestion :

This is delicious served warm with cheese, celery and radishes and other crunchy salad vegetables.

Makes 1 X 900 g loaf.
