Sift together the flour, cream of
tartar, salt, soda and cinnamon and add the bran remaining in the sieve.
Beat in the oil and egg, then the milk
and sugar.
Heat a heavy based non stick frying pan
or griddle (smear with a little oil if necessary).
Stir the chopped apples into the batter
and drop spoonfuls of the mixture well apart on the hot surface and cook
for 1 minute on each side, or until the scones are brown and bubbling.
Serve warm with low fat cottage cheese
and fresh apple slices or orange segments.
