Apple Cream Gateau Recipe

Ingredients :

200g sponge mix flour

4 eggs

4 tbsp water

4 tbsp melted butter

a little orange food coloring

2 green apples, peeled, cored and sliced

1/2 cup water

4 tbsp condensed milk

50g butter

1/4 tsp cinnamon powder

2 tbsp sugar

5 tbsp water

1 tbsp kirsch (cherry liqueur), optional

350g whipping cream, whipped till stiff

some green and red apples

Method :

To make the cake, mix sponge mix flour, eggs and water together and beat at high speed till light and fluffy. Fold in melted butter and orange food coloring. Pour into a 22cm lined and greased baking tin and bake in a pre-heated oven for about 35-40 minutes till cooked and golden brown. Cool and slice into two layers.

For the filling, cook apples with water till soft. Mash till fine. Add condensed milk, butter and cinnamon powder. Cook till thick and leave to cool. Brush the two layers of cake with syrup made with sugar, water and kirsch. Then, spread some whipped cream on one layer of cake. Put all the apple filling on top and spread evenly. Cover with more whipped cream and sandwich with the other layer of cake. Press to stick.

Spread cream all over cake, pipe cream to decorate the sides and top of cake. Arrange green and red apples on top as decoration. Chill in the fridge for one hour before serving.
