Method :

Sift together flour and sugar, baking
powder, soda, 1/4 tsp salt, and spices into mixer bowl.

Add shortening, half the prune juice,
and egg.

Beat 2 minutes with electric mixer.

Add remaining prune juice and vanilla.

Beat 2 minutes.

Pour into well-greased and lightly
floured 8x8x2-inch baking pan.

Bake at 350° for 25-30 minutes, or
till done.

Cool.

Frost with Prune Butter Frosting:
Cream 3 tbsp butter; gradually add 1.5 cups sifted confectioners
sugar and dash salt, blending well.

Add enough prune juice (about 1 tbsp)
for spreading consistency.
