Walnut Cake Recipes

butter, softened
caster sugar
eggs
self-raising flour
plain flour
milk
finely chopped walnuts
whipped cream
unsalted butter
icing sugar, sifted
orange juice |
Method :

Preheat oven to 180C.

Grease two 20cm sandwich cake tins,
line with paper and grease paper.

To prepare cake: cream butter and
sugar in a bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating
until combined.

Sift together flours and fold in
alternately with milk, then fold in walnuts.

Pour mixture into prepared tins and
bake for about 30 minutes.

Stand for 3-4 minutes in tins before
turning out onto a cake rack.

Remove paper.

When cold, join together with whipped
cream (add a little grated orange rind, if you wish) and top with
icing.

To prepare icing: melt butter, stir in
icing sugar and orange juice and beat until smooth.
