Chocolate Date Slices Recipes

Ingredients :

chopped pitted dates

packed brown sugar

butter

water

dark chocolate bits

eggs

self-raising flour

orange juice

milk

finely chopped walnuts

Method :
  1. Preheat oven to 180C and grease a 30 x 25cm Swiss roll tin.

  2. In a pan, combine dates, sugar, butter and water.

  3. Heat until boiling, stirring to dissolve sugar.

  4. Reduce heat, simmer, stirring for 5 minutes until dates are soft.

  5. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate until melted.

  6. Set aside to cool.

  7. Beat in eggs, one at a time.

  8. Stir in flour alternately with orange juice and milk until mixture is well blended.

  9. Fold in chopped walnuts.

  10. Spread evenly into prepared tin and bake for about 30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.

  11. Cool completely and cut into small squares to serve.
