Family Chocolate Cake Recipes

Ingredients :

Chocolate Icing

1 cup

1 tbsp

butter, softened

sugar

icing sugar

self-raising flour

cocoa

bicarbonate of soda

eggs

milk

vanilla essence

pecan halves to decorate

 

icing sugar, sifted

cocoa

boiling water

vanilla essence

Method :
  1. Preheat oven to 180C.

  2. Grease a 23cm cane tin, line with greaseproof paper and grease paper.

  3. Cream butter with sugar and icing sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. Sift flour with cocoa and soda three times into a bowl.

  5. Add flour mixture to butter with remaining ingredients and beat together until well blended.

  6. Spoon into prepared tin and bake for 40 minutes or until cooked when tested with a skewer.

  7. Turn out onto a wire rack to cool.

  8. To prepare icing: combine all ingredients in a bowl over simmering water and stir until smooth.

  9. Pour over cold cake and spread with a knife dipped in hot water.
