Treacle Pudding with Hot Treacle Sauce Recipes

Ingredients :

4 oz butter or margarine, plus extra for greasing

4 oz caster sugar

2 large eggs

4 oz self-raising flour, sifted

4 tbsp golden syrup

Treacle sauce:

4 tbsp golden syrup

1 tbsp water

Method :
  1. Grease a 1.5 pint pudding basin.

  2. Cream together the butter or margarine and sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, adding a little of the flour with the second egg.

  4. Fold in the remaining flour.

  5. Spoon the golden syrup into the buttered pudding basin, then put the sponge mixture on top.

  6. Cover with buttered foil, making a pleat across the centre to allow the pudding to rise.

  7. Steam for 90-120 minutes.

  8. To make the sauce, heat the syrup and water in a small pan.

  9. Turn out the pudding on to a warmed serving dish and over the hot sauce just before serving.
