Baked Apples with Orange and Strawberry Sauce Recipes
Ingredients :
4 gravy smith apples
cinnamon
1 cup orange juice
1 punnet strawberries
liquid artificial sweetener to taste
2 tbsp slivered almonds or chopped pecans
orange slices
Method :
Peel and core
apples. When peeling leave some peel on to create a horizontal striped
effect. Place in a small baking dish. Sprinkle cinnamon over, then
orange juice. Bake, covered, for 30-35 minutes, or microwave on 'high'
for 6-8 minutes, until tender but still retaining their shape. Baste
occasionally to prevent drying out. While apples are cooking, wash and
hull strawberries and purée them. Add sweetener to purée. When apples
are cooked, lift gently onto individual serving dishes. Reduce cooking
liquid by boiling if necessary, and pour into strawberry purée. Mix and
pour over apples. Decorate with slivered nuts and orange slices. Serve
warm or chilled.
To store -
cover and refrigerate for up to two days.
