Place milk
and nutmeg in small saucepan and bring to boil. Remove from heat and
quickly stir in semolina. Return to heat and stir for one minute. Add
egg, vanilla, peel, currants and sultanas and mix well. Turn onto a
lightly floured board and knead gently till smooth. Break off small,
even sized pieces and roll into balls the size of large marbles. Toss
each ball in flour. Half fill a large saucepan with water and bring to
boil. Drop dumplings into boiling water and cook for approximately 5
minutes. (Note - the dumplings will rise to the top of the water as they
cook). Drain and serve immediately with orange custard sauce or apple
purée.
