Treacle are blends of sugar syrups with the
addition of molasses. There are several grades available, from light
golden to black in color, used to enhance the flavor and color of fruit cakes
and desserts. Dried fruit is sweeter and richer than fresh
fruits. The best quality dried fruits is sold as dessert fruits. Currants, raisins
and sultanas are generally sold washed and ready to use, but other fruits such
as pineapple, cherries and peel may need washing before use to remove excess
sugar or syrup.
Apples -
juicy, crunchy, red or green. Even Eve couldn't resist the tempting
sight of this fruit when she spotted it in the Garden of Eden; why else
would she have asked Adam to pluck it? But she never got a chance to
discover how versatile the apple is. Most of us are content to eat
apples raw but there are many other ways to enjoy this fruit.
