Rejuvenating the Immune System with Lingzhi Spores
Lingzhi is an umbrella like mushroom
fungi, well know for its health enhancing properties in Traditional
Chinese Medicine. Its many active ingredients are said to be beneficial
for rejuvenating the immune system, protecting the liver, heart and
blood vessels, reducing cholesterol and blood sugar and improving blood
circulation.
Cancer Prevention
Other uses for Lingzhi include
anti-allergy, anti-virus and anti-inflammation purposes. Research in
recent years has also shown the possibility of Lingzhi's role in cancer
prevention.
While the active ingredients can be
found in both the Lingzhi mushroom and spores, the major bioactive
compounds responsible for the benefits of Lingzhi are the
polysaccharides (complex sugars), the bitter triterpenoids (acids),
minute elements and immunity enhancing proteins. All these compounds
have been shown to possess anti-tumour properties and are found in the
mushroom spores.
Lingzhi has been commonly used as a
herbal tonic by boiling raw slices of the mushroom. Lingzhi extract has
also been made available by drawing out the essence of the mushroom, in
pill or liquid form. Lingzhi spores have now been found to be more
potent than the mushroom itself.
