-
Wear
protection everyday, all year round, for UVA protection.
-
Avoid any
sun exposure from 10am to 2pm, when UVB levels are at their highest.
-
Apply a
UVA and UVB broad spectrum sunscreen at least 20-30 minutes before
going into the sun. Active ingredients need this time to set-up or
"activate".
-
Apply
your sunscreen according to the directions to ensure proper
protection.
-
Do not
apply anything to your skin after you have applied a sunscreen. Many
components in moisturizers and make-up can affect the efficacy of
the sunscreen and its protection value.
-
Do not
wear perfumes or colognes when exposed to the sun. These products
can sensitize your skin to the ultraviolet rays and increase the
damage caused by exposure to the sun.
-
Some
prescription medications can sensitize you to the sun, consult your
physician.
-
Wear
sunscreen in all weather conditions. The sun's rays bounces off
sand, water, snow and can cause more damage.
