Shah Biscuits Recipes

Ingredients :

2 oz butter

2 oz caster sugar

1 tbsp golden syrup

1/2 an egg

4 oz plain flour

1/2 tsp ground ginger

Method :
  1. Preheat the oven to 180C Gas Mark 4.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar, then beat in the syrup and egg.
  3. Gradually work in the flour and ground ginger, turning the mixture onto a board and kneading it lightly, if necessary.
  4. Shape the dough into a long roll and cut it into slices about 1/2 in thick, then shape them into balls.
  5. Place them on the baking sheets leaving plenty of space between them.
  6. Leave to stand for a few minutes, then bake for 15-20 minutes.

Makes 12-16

Place a small piece of blanched almond on each biscuit before baking.
