Mulled Wine Recipe

Stick 12 cloves into 2 oranges, and place in a small deep pan with 1/4 cup (45g / 1.5 oz) lightly packed brown sugar, 1 grated nutmeg, 4 cinnamon sticks and 2 sliced lemons. Add 2 cups (500ml / 16 fl oz) water, and bring to the boil. Simmer for 20 minutes, or until the syrup is fragrant and infused with the spices. Remove the spices and add 3 cups (750 ml / 24 fl oz) full-bodied, dry red wine. Heat slowly, without boiling.
