Shepherd's Pie Recipe

Ingredients :

medium onion

medium carrots

instant mashed potatoes


all-purpose flour


beef stock cube

frozen peas

Worcestershire sauce


black pepper

grated Cheddar cheese

Method :
  1. Preheat the oven to 375

  2. In a large skillet, cook the hamburger over medium heat, breaking it up, until it starts to brown.
  3. While the hamburger cooks, peel the onion and carrots and run them both through the grating blade of the food processor.
  4. Add vegetables to the meat and continue to cook until softened.
  5. While the vegetables and meat are cooking, prepare the mashed potatoes according to package directions, using milk instead of water.
  6. Stir in the butter.
  7. Sprinkle the flour over the meat and vegetables, and stir the mixture.
  8. Add the water and stock cube and bring to a boil.
  9. Reduce the heat, and add green peas, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.
  10. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  11. Pour the meat mixture into a deep 2-quart casserole dish and cover it with mashed potatoes.
  12. Sprinkle with cheese.
  13. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until it is bubbling and browned.

Serves 4-6
