Croutons Recipes

Ingredients :

25 g

6 x 12 mm


in thick slices whole meal bread cut from a large loaf

Method :
  1. Melt the margarine in a frying pan.

  2. Cut the bread into cubes and, when the fat is hot, add it to the pan.

  3. Stir until the cubes are dry and evenly brown.

  4. Turn on to crumpled kitchen paper.

  5. Allow to cool completely before storing.

Herb Croutons

Add 15 ml chopped fresh herbs to the bread cubes just before they are dry. Experiment with parsley, chervil, marjoram, mint, and so on, or use mixed fresh or dried herbs.

Garlic Croutons

Fry 2 crushed garlic cloves with the bread cubes.

Curried Croutons

Toss the bread cubes in 15 ml curry powder before frying.

Per Serving : 27 g fat, 21 g fiber.
