In a deep bowl,
place milk powder, flour and cardamom powder. Cut butter into small cubes
and work mixture until it resembles fine bread crumbs. Add cream and
water, mix to a soft dough. Roll into balls with the help of an ice cream
scoop. Deep fry balls until golden brown. Place them in the syrup
immediately.
Gulab Jamun is
a rich dessert once prepared especially for Maharajas in India. This
wonderful dessert is normally served with rose petals, or rose essence is
added to the syrup for that sweet fragrance. The advantage of making gulab
jamun for a festival is that the milk balls have to be matured in a syrup
for at least a week for a good flavor. Since it can be made ahead, it
saves you time during your busy festive schedule.
