Oatcakes Recipe

Ingredients :

225 g

100 g

2.5 ml

5 ml

50 g

rolled oats

wholemeal flour

salt

baking powder

margarine

cold water to mix

Method :
  1. Heat the oven to 180oC (350oF), Gas 4.

  2. Grease a baking tray.

  3. Mix together the rolled oats, flour, salt and baking powder.
  4. Rub in the margarine and mix with enough cold water to make a firm dough.
  5. Sprinkle some oats on to a lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and knead lightly floured surface, turn out the dough and knead lightly.
  6. Roll out to about 6 mm thickness.
  7. Cut into 8, transfer to the baking tray and bake for 25 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Cool on the tray then transfer to a wire rack.

Makes 8 oatcakes

Each oatcake : 9 g fat, 3 g fiber
