Basic Butter Cake Recipes

Ingredients :

125g

1 tsp

3/4 cup

1.5 cups

1/2 cup

butter, softened

vanilla essence

caster sugar

eggs

self-raising flour, sifted

milk

Method :
  1. Preheat oven to 180C and prepare a cake tin of your choice.

  2. Cream butter, vanilla and sugar in a small bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

  3. This will take 10 minutes, or 20 minutes by hand using a wooden spoon.

  4. Mixture will be pale and light in texture.

  5. Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating until combined.

  6. Stir in half the flour and half the milk, then stir in remaining flour and milk.

  7. Pour mixture into prepared tin and bake for 40 minutes.

Makes 1 cake
