Basic Butter Cake Recipes

Ingredients : |

butter, softened
vanilla essence
caster sugar
eggs
self-raising flour, sifted
milk

Method :

Preheat oven to 180C and prepare a
cake tin of your choice.

Cream butter, vanilla and sugar in a
small bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy.

This will take 10 minutes, or 20
minutes by hand using a wooden spoon.

Mixture will be pale and light in
texture.

Beat in eggs, one at a time, beating
until combined.

Stir in half the flour and half the
milk, then stir in remaining flour and milk.

Pour mixture into prepared tin and
bake for 40 minutes.
Makes 1 cake
