Glutinous Rice Dessert with Osmanthus and Dried Fruits Recipes

Ingredients :

150g glutinous rice

75g red bean paste

dried osmanthus blossoms

qi zi

dried apricot, raisin

Seasoning

1 tbsp sugar

1 tbsp oil

Syrup, mixed well

1/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup water

Thickening glaze

1 tsp cornflour

2 tbsp water

Method :
  1. Wash glutinous rice.
  2. Soak in water overnight.
  3. Drain and steam over high heat for 1/2 hour.
  4. Pour it into a deep bowl and mix with seasoning.
  5. Place a sheet of cling wrap in another deep bowl.
  6. Put half of the glutinous rice on it.
  7. Add a layer of red bean paste.
  8. Place the remaining half of glutinous rice on top.
  9. Cover with another sheet of cling wrap.
  10. Unmould it by putting the bowl upside down over a plate.
  11. Sprinkle with Qi Zi, raisin and dried apricot on top.
  12. Steam over medium heat for 15 minutes.
  13. Keep warm.
  14. Bring syrup to the boil.
  15. Add the thickening glaze and bring to the boil.
  16. Pour it over the steamed rice.
  17. Sprinkle dried osmanthus blossoms on top.
  18. Serve hot.

Refrigerated cooked glutinous rice takes longer to steam. Or else, you might have hard lumps in the rice. This dish has to be served hot.
