Toffee Apples Recipe

Ingredients :

medium sized eating apples

plain flour

egg

water

oil

white sesame seeds

vegetable oil for deep frying

iced water

ice cubes

Method :
  1. Oil serving plate lightly.
  2. Peel apples, remove cores and cut each into 8 pieces.
  3. Lightly beat the egg and combine with 2 cup water and flour to make a smooth, thick batter.
  4. Heat the oil for deep frying.
  5. Mix sugar with 2 cup water and 1 tablespoon oil and bring to boil.
  6. Simmer until it forms a thick, light colored toffee.
  7. Test if toffee is ready by dropping a spoonful into iced water.
  8. If it hardens immediately the toffee is ready.
  9. Add sesame seeds to the toffee and set near the cooker.
  10. When the oil is almost at smoking point coat several pieces of apple with the batter.
  11. Put into the oil and fry until golden brown.
  12. Lift out using a pair of chop sticks and put into the toffee mixture.
  13. When coated transfer to the iced water to harden.
  14. Place on the oiled plate.
  15. Cook all the apple pieces and serve immediately with the iced water.
  16. Dip into the iced water if the toffee begins to soften.
