With the aid of the microwave, Fake Fondue
can be hastily whipped up for a snack, a party, or even a casual dinner.
You can serve it in a chafing dish or fondue pot, or set it out in a
bowl and simply pop the Fake Fondue back in the microwave for a few
moments if it starts to firm up.
This beer-based fondue has an earthier, more casual flavor than the
classic Swiss Fondue, and in some ways is more akin to the beery cheese
sauce of Welsh Rarebit. If you like, however, you can substitute white
wine and Swiss Cheese for a more sophisticated taste.
Make sure that you use a flavorful
bottled beer, preferably micro brewed, instead of beer out of a can. The
Fake Fondue recipe is formulated for the microwave, but you can also
make it on top of the stove.
