Burgundy Bananas Recipes

Ingredients :

200 ml

25 g

1 inch (2.5 cm)

225 g

5

red wine

Demerara sugar

piece cinnamon

black grapes, seeded and peeled

large bananas, cut slantwise into 2 inch (5 cm) pieces

Method :
  • Bring the wine, sugar, cinnamon and ginger slowly to the boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar.

  • Add the grapes and simmer for 3 minutes.

  • Pour the hot wine and grapes over the bananas and leave to cool.

  • Discard the cinnamon.

  • Serve cool but not chilled.

Serves 4

Note : This is a 'same day' recipe - the bananas soften and start fraying at edges if they are prepared more than an hour or so ahead.
