Shakapare Recipes

Ingredients :

2 cups

2 tbsp

11/2 cup

11/2 cup

1/2 cup

whole meal flour (or plain flour if preferred)

ghee

water

sugar

water

oil for deep frying

Method :
  1. Rub ghee into flour, and knead into a stiff dough with a little water or milk.
  2. Roll out the dough about 1.5 cm thick, and cut into 2 cm squares.
  3. Deep fry over low heat until light brown.
  4. Dish out and keep aside.
  5. In a saucepan, boil the sugar with 1/2 cup water until it is thick and coats the sides of the pan.
  6. Add the fried "biscuits" and stir quickly till coated with sugar.
  7. Remove and cool.

Serves 6 - 8
