Anna's Continental Apple Cake Recipes

Ingredients : |

eggs
carton sour cream
bicarbonate of soda
self-raising flour, sifted
green cooking apples, peeled, cored and
sliced
chopped walnuts
sugar
cinnamon |
Method :
- Preheat oven to 180C, grease and
line a 26 x 30cm baking tin.
- To prepare base: cream butter and
sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing
well after each addition.
- Beat in sour cream and soda.
- Add flour, folding lightly into
mixture.
- Pour mixture into prepared tin,
arrange apples on top.
- Combine topping ingredients and
sprinkle over apples.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes.
- Cool in tin, cut into squares to
serve, remove paper and store in an airtight container.
Makes about 50
The moist apple cake is best eaten
within 2 days of baking. It can also be served as a dessert with whipped
cream.
