Packages muesli in U.S. is often a far cry
from the wholesome mix of dried fruits, nuts, and grains developed by a
Swiss doctor and intended to be eater with yogurt and fresh fruit. It
should not contain added fat, nor should there be a lot of processed
flakes and puffs, or any artificial or added sweeteners.
You can make your own muesli from
all-natural ingredients that are best bought in bulk from a health food
store. The basic proportions follow, but if your particularly like
banana chips or dried apricots, add extra ones to your muesli. Stored in
a large airtight container, you'll always have a hearty, healthy
breakfast on hand. You can halve this quantity.
